Be a foreign exchange student. Nothing will open your mind so much as a long extended trip abroad where you have to interact with people in their culture rather than your own. It makes everything you do back at home take on a new look and this unique perspective will be something that you would otherwise take years to achieve, if at all.

Absolutely take the opportunity to become an exchange student. You'll learn about how others live. This is a lifelong experience that will always stay with you !
